“Professional Chef hosts French Language and Cookery Workshop”

Badminton School Bristol

On Monday 18th Feb the 6A French linguists were treated to a French Language and
Cookery Workshop by professional chef, Iza Redon of La Cuizine.

During the morning the girls watched Iza cook and explain, all in French, and had plenty of hands on participation, preparing a delicious meal, which was enjoyed by us all. The menu was a colourful and nutritious variety of Mediterranean food:

Taboule salad with fresh coriander and pomegrenate
Tumeric and cumin potatoe salad
Chicken and courgette kebabs
Meditteranean wraps with roasted vegetables
Tatin Tart

After the delicious meal, there were several language exercises by Iza, which reinforced some of the terms used, and introduced some new idiomatic phrases.

After the mock A level exams, it was a welcome treat, and the recipes are sure to be tried several times at home!

C’EST DELICIEUX!
Fancy creating some top-notch cuisine and picking up a bit of French, too? Mark Taylor reports on a new Bristol cookery workshop with a twist.

Iza Redon talks about food with the sort of passion that usually only comes from French chefs who grew up in a household where the kitchen was the most important room in the house.

The daughter of Parisian restaurateurs, Iza’s earliest memories are of her parents taking her and her brother (who also became a chef) to top restaurants in France’s capital city and it shaped her approach to eating.

“Good food is in the family and it’s in the blood,” says Iza, who moved to Bristol with her husband in 2005 after living in London, Italy, Prague and Amsterdam, where she ran her own restaurant.
